    The FHWA Bicycle and Pedestrian Program offers guidance and is responsible for promoting the increased use of non-motorized transportation. Each state has a coordinator responsible for the program. This site offers publications and resources to help the pedestrian. It is also responsible for making sure your area is equipped and safe for the non-motorized user.


    Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged (CTD)
    The overall mission of Florida's transportation disadvantaged program is to ensure the availability of safe, efficient, cost-effective and quality transportation services for the transportation disadvantaged. The transportation disadvantaged include individuals who because of physical or mental disability, income states or age, are unable to transport themselves or to purchase transportation and therefore are dependent upon others to obtain access to health care, employment, education, shopping, social activities, or other life-sustaining activities. Services are also extended to include the disabled, high-risk or at-risk children.

    Independent Transportation Network
    The Independent Transportation Network (ITN) is a non-profit transportation service using both paid and volunteer drivers to provide door-to-door service, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. People who use the service open accounts and pay for their rides by the mile.


    Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA)
    Public Transit provider in Pinellas County with buses and trolleys serving 36 regular and 6 commuter routes. Additionally, there are 2 express buses that travel between Pinellas County and Tampa and the Suncoast Beach Trolley connects Gulf Beaches from Clearwater Beach to Pass-a-Grille.

    Supplemental Transportation Programs (STPs) provide much needed transportation to seniors who need rides but cannot access usual transportation services. STPs vary in services, staffing and financing among US communities. The Profiles section of this website lists all currently operating STPs catalogued by the Mobilizer Project. There are over 300 STPs operating nationwide.
