    AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety
    The mission of the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is to identify traffic safety problems, foster research that seeks solutions, and disseminate information and educational materials. Links are provided to a range of educational topics including Senior Drivers, Drowsy Driving, Bicyclist, Skater and Pedestrian Safety, National Traffic Safety organizations and Research Centers. A link to transportation resources is also provided.


    Alzheimer's Community Care of Palm Beach/Treasure Coast
    Telephone contact information for professional help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is provided. This help/consultation is provided to community members (including law enforcement, case managers, doctors, etc.,) who are faced with emerging crisis situations with individuals who have dementia. The role of the consultant and service goals of the Alzheimer's Crisis Response Team and other services identified.


    Alzheimer's, Dementia, and Driving
    The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., has developed a guide to when it is time to stop driving. This site provides links to early warning signs for Alzheimer's and dementia, tips for drivers with Alzheimer's, as well as frequently asked questions for patients, relatives, and caregivers. Another helpful feature is a link providing information and advice from other individuals who have gone through the same difficult situation.


    AMA - Older Driver Resource
    This part of the American Medical Association website explains why older drivers are at increased risk when driving, and provides resources to the older driver and family. Other parts of the site provide information used to assist physicians in evaluating the ability of their older patients to operate a motor vehicle safely as part of their everyday activities. This site from the American Medical Association provides a downloadable copy of a useful book employed by many physicians when encountering and treating elderly drivers.


    Area Agency on Aging of Pasco and Pinellas, Inc.
    The Area Agency on Agency provides a number of programs and services for seniors including the driving program, 'Getting in Gear' and Resources on Senior Driving. These resources are described and links are provided to resources which will be helpful to seniors, family members and professionals. Information and links to Transportation Options for seniors in Pasco and Pinellas Counties are provided.

    This site addresses who does not drive, where you can find a ride, how to have products delivered to your door and where you can find more information about services in your area.

    Independence Drive provides services in Gainesville and Ocala including driver assessment, intervention, and connection to alternative transportation sources. Links on this website are provided to other providers of similar services, to governmental and other transportation agencies, to health information and much more.


    Injury Prevention
    This site, sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), focuses on protecting the older road users, including drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists, and keeping them safely mobile through programs directed toward reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities among older individuals. This website provides many links to information concerning a number of medical conditions and their impact on safe driving. NHTSA's programs help aging individuals recognize changing abilities and adapt transportation practices appropriately. This site offers an exponential amount of material and resources for the elderly and their families concerning driving safely and directs drivers to transportation alternatives.


    Safe and Mobile Seniors
    This web site developed by the Florida Department of Transportation, is a "one stop shop" for transportation safety and mobility information affecting older drivers and pedestrians living in Florida. The site is a resource, not only for seniors, but also families, caregivers, aging service providers, law enforcement, safety professionals, engineers and planners and any one else interested in promoting safety and mobility for Florida's elder citizens.


    Safe Driving for Older Adults
    The keys to reducing accidents and unsafe driving are for older adults and their family members to recognize signs of unsafe driving, intervene appropriately, and find alternative means of transportation before safety becomes and issue.


    When You Are Concerned
    This handbook was developed to help families, friends, and caregivers facing the dilemma of what to do when an aging loved one is faced with at-risk driving. This site chronologically covers many situations that an aging person will encounter as they begin to outlive their driving abilities. Stories and testimonials have been gathered by a series of surveys by the Older Driver Family Assistance Program of the New York State Office for the Aging. We hope this site will stimulate you and your loved ones to think about your own driving safety and assist you in planning for 'mobility of life'.
